Gingerbread House and Charades

My mom decided that she wanted to do all the traditional Christmas things with Jessica that she could. Gingerbread houses, snowmen, sugar cookies, etc... So, we started with the gingerbread houses (and honestly, that's all we had time for! Christmas is busy with my family!) Anyways, my mom bought a kit that included all of the frosting, gingerbread pieces, and candy. In theory all you had to do was put it together and decorate. In actuality, it didn't resemble the adorable picture on the box! haha... oh well! Jessica thought it was hilarious and kept trying to eat the candy... The only photo opportunity I missed (silly camera that takes to long between shots) was after I told Jessica she couldn't pick the candy off the house to eat it. I happened to look over and I saw her standing on the kitchen chair, and leaning in to lick the gingerbread house!!! I laughed so hard! I could just see the gears turning in her head, "If mom says I can't pick off the candy and eat it, no problem! I'll just eat it straight from the gingerbread house!" So adorable! So smart! (I'm so in trouble when she gets older!)

Except for the roof, the undecorated tree (I ran out of frosting) and the windows, oh and the tilted snowman, it doesn't look that bad! haha... I also realized that I take a million pictures and post them but I don't care. They're all so cute! :-)

Like a shark, she begins to circle the finished product...

Jessica: What? It's not like I'm actually going to eat it mom!

Jessica: Hmmm... there's so much candy all over that thing, mom's not going to notice if I take a piece...

Jessica is analyzing which piece of candy she is taking first.

Oh! That one looks like it needs a friend.

Frosty the snowman...

I love the look in her eye and the little finger pointing slyly at our creation.

Getting bolder in her declarations of eating!

This is the face that accompanied the wailing after I moved the gingerbread house (after she ate, and then licked, it). You can see the Grandma hands, outstretched, ready to soothe upset the upset grandchild...

Jessica doesn't really want to be soothed. She has learned to go limp when you try to pick her up. Not so bad when she's already on the floor. Much much more dangerous when she's on, oh say a chair?

My mom is still attempting the soothing (don't you like how I stood back and captured it all on camera? haha)

A little less crying. Still not very happy though.

Elvis has left the building!
And now, for the really embarrassing pictures! In an attempt to make Jessica happy again, my mother follows her granddaughter who can do no wrong into the kitchen and tries to get her to laugh. How? By trying to get Jessica to imitate her. It certainly worked for me. I was laughing my head off! (As the camera was clicking away, of course!)

My mom grabbed Jessica's blanket and laid it on the kitchen floor.

They pretended to go to sleep.

Jessica started to laugh. Whenever you lay down with her she always looks over and smiles or laughs. It's her way of sharing the moment with you. I love it.

Still sleeping...

Now they've "woken up"

(This is where it really gets funny, and where my mom is probably going to shoot me) - my mom decided to lay on her back with her hands and feet in the air. She wanted to see what Jessica would do...

Jessica looks up to make sure I'm capturing these precious moments.

First she sits right by Grandma (and I mean RIGHT BY Grandma).

I love it when Jessica begins to lay down but does it from a sitting position. It's so awkward looking and adorable!

First the hands...

And now the feet! Hooray!

My mom and I were both laughing hysterically.

It looks like my mom is trying to give her a high five. She's busy though...

Jessica looks to make sure I've got it... What a ham!

Now they're playing following the leader on hands and knees.

Jessica loves following people around.

They are leaving the kitchen...

Still leaving the kitchen (no one cares about these pictures but me... haha)

My mom turns around to try and play something new but...

Jessica is ready to move on. The gingerbread house fiasco is officially forgotten!
