I hate it. Actually that is not true. I like cleaning. I hate re-cleaning! I hear from all over that it is the "norm" with little kids in the house though. Still drives me nuts. I swear that I will have my home clean one day, and by half-way through the next day, it is completely trashed looking again. My husband says to just put things up when I'm done. Which is great in theory except I have to rush and save the little toddler from climbing on the counter where the scissors are, or stop her from leaning into the bathroom and falling to crack her head on the tub. Or, my favorite, you try cleaning up and putting things away with a screaming child who is pushing on your legs and crying "up! up!" so that you will hold her because she is sad. Seriously. And then, when I put a movie on so she can be still so I can clean, I feel like this horrible mother who has gone back on her naive goal of not letting Disney movies become the babysitter. The reality of it is, mothers occasionally (note that I said occasionally) NEED Disney to be the babysitter! Plus, I feel like ALL I do is clean up after everything!!! (Which isn't true in reality but we're talking about what I feel here! Work with me...) My mom also told me that the housework can wait while you spend time with your kid(s). Which is true except can it wait a week? A month? A year? A lifetime? The trick is to balance your housework with playing. Or, somehow involve the kids WITH the housework (hello Mary Poppins: A Spoon Full of Sugar... which, by the way, is Jessica's favorite Disney babysitter! haha!) In any case, this is my re-cleaning rant. I hate re-cleaning.

As I read this Amy I realized that that part of my life when my kids were little has past and oh how I miss those days. It makes me teary-eyed. All I can say is dont stress....sometimes you need to let disney be the babysitter and sometimes you just have to say...the heck with it and get down on the floor and play with that sweet little daughter of yours so that she will remember her fun-loving mommy who loved her enough to spend time just playing with her. Motherhood is the best! All the cleaning and re-cleaning that we have to do...it is all worth it!
Amen.
ah yes. re-cleaning. i've been too busy doing it to give it a name. thanks!
jessica is SO big and SO cute! i can't believe how grown up she looks!
STORY OF MY LIFE. OH. MY. GOSH. You hit the nail on the head. I try my best to put things away as I go, but you're right, it's hard to juggle when you've got a 2 year old to chase and watch over! After Brinkly is in bed, I try to get the house picked up so that I can wake up to a somewhat decent house. I am much less stressed when my house is cleaned. And happier! But we just got Brinkly a kitchen set - which came with TONS of little dishes and food items, etc, and I can already tell that it's going to give me a run for my money when it comes to keeping it clean! Especially with this big ol' belly of mine that gets more and more in the way as each day goes by! But don't stress - play with Jessica and take lots of pictures too :) haha
